The interview process

  1. 1

    Application

    Official

Apply online via the Search Opportunities page with a CV (one page recommended); some programmes, e.g. work experience, also ask for a cover letter. CV and cover letter cannot be edited after submission.

  2. 2

    Application limits

    Official

Maximum of seven applications globally per recruitment cycle; applying to the same programme in different regions counts towards the seven. Paris: postings state a maximum of three applications to Paris offers per calendar year.

  3. 3

    Application timing

    Official

UK: 2027 summer and insight programmes recruit on a rolling basis, with interviews held continuously once applications open, so early applications are encouraged. Many vacancies close once all places are filled.

  4. 4

    Online assessment

    Official

An online assessment link can take up to 3 working days to arrive after applying. The assessment is not timed, no extensions are given, and results from an earlier application in the same year can be reused. Test type/vendor is not stated officially.

  5. 5

    First-round interview

    Official

If selected, a first-round interview on your experiences, skills and motivations, held online or in person at an office. Insight Week programmes also include an interview.

  6. 6

    Assessment centre

    Official

Further interview with senior colleagues, a collaborative group exercise and a case study testing analytical thinking, communication and teamwork.

  7. 7

    Paris: interview timing

    Official

Paris: for July/September 2027 six-month stages, interviews start in November or January depending on the team (e.g. FIG and Transaction R & Co from November, ECM from mid-November; Healthcare, DA&R, Rating, Infrastructure Debt, ESG in January).

  8. 8

    Paris: Large Cap first round

    Official

Paris Large Cap stage: shortlisted candidates attend a first round of interviews at a recruitment morning on 13 or 20 November (9am to 12pm slots).

  9. 9

    Paris: Sovereign Advisory interviews

    Official

Paris Sovereign Advisory: 2-3 interview rounds with team members; the first round includes a technical test covering financial markets and international finance, macroeconomics, public finance and debt sustainability, emerging-market development finance and economic news.

  10. 10

    Offer and conversion

    Official

UK: at the end of the summer internship, interns can be considered for a permanent role on the following year's Graduate Programme; graduates start with the Global Graduate Training Programme in London.
