The interview process

    Online application

    Official

    Application with essays and resume, reviewed by the Academy team. Include your graduation month because many roles are limited to certain graduation years. Only one application to the Academy internship programme is allowed globally, so choose one region. Use of generative AI in the application is prohibited. Academy applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and close when the class is filled; actual dates and processes vary by programme and region.

    Online questionnaire

    Official

    Qualified candidates are sent a short online questionnaire with word limits (described in the firm's 2022 applicant guidance; the current HK and SG postings describe essays and an application form instead).

    Case study

    Official

    Selected candidates are emailed a case study to show research ability and business acumen. Firm guidance: state your thesis up front, build your own original model from scratch (templates get candidates disqualified), back your view with qualitative and quantitative evidence and answer exactly the question asked.

    Online assessment and virtual interviews (internship)

    For the Summer Internship, shortlisted candidates complete an online assessment and virtual one-on-one interviews with members of the Academy team. Firm guidance: understand the interviewer's role, prepare unique questions and be able to answer 'Why long/short investing?'

    Assessment centre (internship)

    Shortlisted internship candidates are invited to a half-day assessment centre. There are two application deadlines: mid-May for an early-summer assessment centre, and a second for applicants through summer to mid-autumn leading to a late-autumn assessment centre.

    Virtual interviews (full-time Academy programme)

    After the case study, the next step is a series of virtual one-on-one interviews with Academy team members. There is no set deadline; candidates are considered as they apply until the programme is at capacity.

    Spring Insight selection

    Official

    Apply by 15 Nov 2026 (23:59 UTC); applications are reviewed after the deadline, not on a rolling basis, and selected participants are notified by February 2027.

    Cubist QR internship

    Official

    Cubist Systematic quantitative research internships are applied for by emailing a CV to the team address given in the posting; the posting states no further stages.
